Finance Business Partner
Location: Vancouver, BC
Reporting to: VP, Finance
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Finance Business Partner (FBP), you will act as a strategic liaison between the Finance team and
Operations, helping translate financial insights into action. This role will focus on supporting our
insurance brokerage’s operational leaders with financial reporting, KPI development, budget ownership,
and business decision-making. You will play a critical role in enhancing financial literacy, improving
performance visibility, and embedding a commercial mindset across the business.
This role is a new role within Waypoint and will have the opportunity to understand the full end to end
suite of insurance products that Waypoint offers, including Commercial, Residential, Auto, Life and
Benefits Insurance.
This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work in-office or in-branch based on the needs of the role
and/or as required be management. Preference will be given to candidates that can work hybrid in
Vancouver or Courtenay.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Attend operational meetings to provide financial insights, helping guide data-driven decisions.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to promote collaboration and trust.
- Translate complex financial data into accessible insights for non-finance audiences.
- Conduct training and workshops to build financial knowledge and accountability across
operational teams. - Help shift culture toward proactive financial ownership at all levels.
Insights, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles by partnering with leaders to align financial
plans with business priorities. - Educate operational teams on budget assumptions, constraints, and ownership.
- Deliver monthly reporting packages tailored for operational teams, with clear commentary on
variances to budget/forecast. - Develop or enhance existing dashboards and scorecards that track performance against KPIs.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes with meaningful variance analysis.
- Provide ongoing reforecasting support and scenario planning.
KPI Development & Monitoring
- Collaborate with departmental leaders to define and refine performance metrics that reflect both
financial and non-financial drivers. - Monitor and investigate key trends, drivers, and anomalies in the business.
- Introduce benchmarking and continuous improvement metrics across regions and departments.
Project & Business Improvement
- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities across Finance and Operations.
- Partner with data and IT teams to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and systems
integration. - Lead or support business case analysis for strategic initiatives (e.g., branch expansion, system
upgrades, product launches).

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings to support events.
- Familiar with design and presentation tools such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite, and
more. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, compelling
content. - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A creative mindset with an eye for aesthetics and consistency.
- Is independent, self-motivated, and proactive, but also able to work in a collaborative team.
- Eagerness to learn about the business/industry and grow from within.
