Account Manager, Commercial Insurance

Reporting to: Manager, Commercial Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Account Manager, Commercial Insurance plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service to Navacord’s commercial clients. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day client needs, ensuring policy accuracy, and supporting the Risk Advisor in maintaining and growing client relationships. The Account Manager is a key contributor to client retention and satisfaction, leveraging strong communication, technical knowledge, and organizational skills to deliver timely and accurate insurance solutions.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work in-office or in-branch based on the needs of the role and/or as required by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Support & Internal Communication

  • Assist with day-to-day client service needs, including policy changes, endorsements, certificates, and inquiries.
  • Respond to client emails and calls promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain strong, supportive relationships with clients, insurers, and internal teams.
  • Participate in regular check-ins with Risk Advisor to review current workload, clarify expectations, and assist in prioritizing tasks to ensure deadlines and service standards are met.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (administration, claims, underwriting, finance).
  • Act as a liaison between clients and insurers to ensure clear communication and resolution of issues.

Policy Administration

  • Work under the guidance of a Risk Advisor to review renewal lists to ensure timely completion of renewals.
  • Track renewal timelines and follow up on outstanding documentation or action.
  • Ensure all policy changes, endorsements, certificates, and documents are issued accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare insurance documents such as proposals, submissions, binders, certificates, statement of values and property schedules.
  • Review policy documents and endorsements from insurers for accuracy.
  • Support the Risk Advisor in identifying coverage gaps and recommending appropriate solutions.

Learning & Development

  • Participate in training programs to develop technical knowledge of commercial insurance products.
  • Build familiarity with markets, coverages, underwriting requirements, and brokerage systems.
  • Grow into more complex account servicing responsibilities over time.

Strategic Client Management

  • Support the Risk Advisor in developing and executing client service plans.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for account rounding and cross-selling.
  • Contribute to client retention strategies by ensuring consistent and proactive service delivery.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained in the management system (Epic).
  • Adhere to brokerage procedures and E&O best practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in gathering underwriting information and preparing risk summaries.

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added during the course of employment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Level 2 BC Insurance License.
  • 3+ years of Account Manager experience in Commercial Insurance.
  • Refined interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, driven by a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring interactions are clear and concise.
  • Proficient in working within a team environment and managing diverse tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Prior experience in Commercial Insurance or related fields is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and brokerage management systems such as EPIC.

The salary range for this role is $65,000 to $90,000 per year. Compensation is determined by a combination of factors including a candidate’s experience, job-specific knowledge, and skills. Internal equity to ensure fairness across the organization and region/location is also considered.
