Gerry graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) in 2009 with a double major in Accounting and International Business, while obtaining a minor in Economics. Gerry started his career working with one of the major Canadian Banks for three years. Gerry received his Canadian Securities Course (CSC) in 2010, Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) in 2012, and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 2019.
Gerry is a member in good standing of the Financial Advisors Association of Canada (Advocis) and FP Canada.
Gerry was born and raised in Nanaimo. After spending two years working in Vancouver, he and his wife, Laura, moved back to Nanaimo to be near their family. He has been married to his beautiful wife since 2011 and the couple has three children: Rylan (2014), Emily (2016), and Oliver (2018). Their family loves to spend time with their dog, Rocky, as well as time at the family cottage on Vancouver Island.
Gerry has volunteered his time within the hockey communities of Nanaimo and Oceanside (Parksville). In Nanaimo, Gerry was the Head Coach of the U15 Tier II (2013-2014) & U18 Tier I (2014-2015) Clippers. Gerry served as the assistant coach for the Oceanside Generals Junior B Hockey Club (2015-2016) and as their Head Coach for the 2016-2017 hockey season. Gerry became the Oceanside Generals team president and director of hockey operations starting in 2016 and concluding in the fall of 2021. He also served two years on the board at the Enchanted Woodland Childcare Centre in Nanaimo.
Currently, Gerry volunteers his time coaching all his children in their various sporting activities.
