Neil has been providing professional advice since 1989, with his beginnings in the life insurance industry. After founding Arbutus Financial in 1997, he has broadened his business planning skills across Employee Benefits, Corporate Risk Management, Treasury Management and Succession Planning. Neil’s core focus is in assisting business owners, businesses and senior management. He designs and implements financial solutions to attract and retain great people and manage risk within a business. In addition, Neil is passionate about assisting seniors with planning their financial affairs, ensuring all is in order, and providing peace of mind for the whole family.

Neil is a born and raised Vancouverite and graduate of St. George’s School and UBC. He is married to Martine, and they have three wonderful children. Leisure time is often spent at Point Roberts. Recreational interests include boating, sailing, kayaking, and mountain biking.

Neil is a member in good standing of ADVOCIS (Financial Advisors Association of Canada). Within the financial industry, he has served on Manulife Financial’s National Small Business Advisory Board, Manulife Bank’s National Advisory Council and the Manulife Securities National Advisory Council.

Actively involved in the community, Neil is a former Chair of the Board of Governors of York House School. Previously, he served on the St. George’s School Board of Directors for a number of years. In addition, Neil is a Past President of the St. George’s School Parents Association and a Past President of the St. George’s Old Boys Association. He has also been a Board Member of the Downtown Eastside Youth Activities Society (DEYAS). Previously, Neil was active in the Parkinson’s Disease volunteer sector. He is a past Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Parkinson Society Canada, a national organization headquartered in Toronto, and a Past President of Parkinson Society British Columbia. Neil was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for contribution to Canadian communities in 2002.
